"Global warming is the combined result of anthropogenic emissions of greenhouse gases and changes in solar irradiance, while climate change refers to any change in the state of the climate that can be identified by changes in the state of the climate that can be identified by changes in the average and/or the variability of its properties, and that persists for an extended period, typically decades or longer. Increasing global temperature will cause sea levels to rise and will change the amount and pattern to precipitation, likely including expansion of subtropical deserts. The continuing retreat of glaciers, permafrost and sea ice is expected, with the Artic region being particularly affected political and public debate continues regarding the appropriate response to global warming. The available options are mitigation to reduce further emissions; adaptation to reduce the damage caused by warming and more speculatively, geoengineering to reverse global warming.
The present book covers all key aspects of global warming with up-to-date and well referenced information throughout. It provides a comprehensive analysis of the debates around global warming and is likely to become a foundational text for students, scholars, policymakers and citizens seeking clarity on this topic. With argumentative and critical discussion of the matter, lucid and easy to follow language, and illustration to foster better understanding, this book, will prove to be of vast interest to those wishing to know more about menace of global warming."
