Environment is omnipresent and involves every resource the humanity has. Need of the hour is to manage environment properly & judiciously. The consequences of mis-managing environment are far reaching and disastrous for the humanity. Environment is multi-dimensional and multi-faceted, therefore it is our collective responsibility to develop a holistic management framework. Against this backdrop, Pacific Institute of management, Udaipur decided to organize an international Conference on the theme "Environment Management Practices in India: Issues, Imperatives and Implications" from 3rd to 5th March, 2006 with financial support from AICTE, new Delhi. A large number of academicians, researcher and the industrial professionals have pooled their knowledge, wisdom and expertise on this important issue. The present publication is an edited version of the papers & articles contributed in the conference. The book has been divided in five sections. The contents of the book provide comprehensive coverage on various environmental issues. The book shall be immensely beneficial for policy makers, researcher and academicians. The editors firmly believe that if the discerning readers voraciously read, analyze & assimilate learning, preaching and recommendations contained in this book, their efforts shall be amply rewarded.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR Karunesh Saxena

Prof. Karunesh Saxena is presently working as Director Pacific Institute of Management, Udaipur since January 2004 and is on deputation from faculty of management Studies, MLS University, Udaipur. A man of Production and Operations management, Dr. Saxena has 22 years of academic and industry experience. Prior to PIM he has been associated with prominent universities at Jammu-Kashmir, Ujjain, New Delhi and Udaipur. He is credited with the first Ph.D. in the areas of ISO-9000 in India. Dr. Saxena has successfully supervised 10 Ph.Ds. and currently eight research scholars are pursuing their Ph.D. under his guidance. He has written two books and more than 50 research papers in national and international journals. A widely travelled person, Dr. Saxena has the honour of presenting a paper at Oxford University in 2005 and was also invited by Cambridge University in 2006. He has trained large number of MDPS in the areas of general management, quality management and behavioral science. He is serving as consultant with large number of private sector and public sector organisations. He is also a member in various statutory bodies of AICTE and UGC in India. 

ABOUT THE AUTHOR Nityesh Bhatt

Dr. Nityesh Bhatt is working as Associate professor with Pacific Institute of Management, Udaipur in the areas of MIS and marketing. Before joining PIM in September 2000, he worked for NIIT and first Computers for five years as a corporate trainer. He has the achievement of completing his Ph.D. in the area of e-Governance, one of the pioneer work in India. Dr. Bhatt is presently supervising four Ph.Ds. he has written 12 research papers in national and international journals. He has successfully completed four months FDP from IIM Ahmedabad and was also awarded an international fellowship from DiploFoundation, malta to attend the first Internet Governance Forum meet organised by united Nations and Greek Government in October 2006. He has trained more than 30 public and private sector organizations in the areas of Information System, marketing and behaviour Science.
