ABOUT THE AUTHOR Mohan Singh Panwar

Mohan Singh Panwar received his M.A. and Ph.D. Degree in geography from Department of Geography HNB Garwal University, Srinagar (Garwal) Uttarakhand. In 1985 Garhwal University awarded his Gold him Gold medal for securing highest position in the University in the subject of M.A. Geography. He is currently reader in the department of geography in HNB Garhwal university Cental campus Srinagar (Garhwal). Vast Geographical field works in the deep mountains and other Geophysical terrain in India took him close to the ground realities at the grass root level and the burning desire to contribute something positively towards improving the quality of life of the masses and deteriorating environment and development brought him in the contact of various voluntary groups, scientists and activities working towards this end in the region. He has specialization in natural resource management Mountain Environment, microplanning, biodiversity conservation, watershed Development and community based environmental assessment. He has to his credit 12 research paper and 10 articles published in different books, journals and magazines. He has attended more than 15 seminarss workshops etc. in different parts of the country. In 1998 he has successfully organized national seminar in collaboration with ICMOD, Nepal, DST India and University Grants Commission New Delhi. He is at present engaged in many research and extension projects in India and Canada. Dr. Panwar widely traveled in different parts of the world. Prague, Czech Republic (1994), Hague, Holland (1996), Kathmandu, Nepal (1999), Winninpeg, Canada (2004) and Romania, London, Toranto for different academic interaction. He has and ample experience of research and extension in the difficult terrain of the Himalayan dealing with many problems of environment and Development.
