The present work is a collection of papers, written during the period 1977-90. The first, second and fifth papers mentioned in the ‘Contents’ are slightly revised versions of earlier drafts published in Journal of Indian Philosophy and Indian Philosophical Quarterly. The sixth paper is a rechristened version of a paper which will be published, very soon, in The Indian Journal of Buddhist Studies. The remaining five papers are unpublished. These papers deal mainly with two important concepts of the Buddhist religio-philosophical system, viz. those of dependent origination and momentariness. These related concepts lend support to many a significant Buddhist doctrine, e.g., ‘no-soul’, ‘impermanence’ and ‘relativity’. The papers point out the different interpretations which both these concepts received at the various stages of the development of Buddhist thought. Besides throwing light on some Buddhist metaphysical concepts, the papers highlight important observations of Buddhist logicians on some logical issues.
