Literature dealing with the experiments in ichthyology is scant and also scattered. In this book an attempt has been made to bring together the diverse facets of practical exercises on various aspects of fisheries in a consolidated form. The book contains 9 chapters covering practical exercises on various aspects of physico-chemical and biological characteristics of water and sediment, pond management, fishing gears, fish nutrition, health and hygiene, physiology and behaviour, reproduction and breeding, age and growth studies including population dynamics. Key for the identification of common fishes and morphometric measurements are given in chapter 9. For better understanding of the subject, solved and unsolved exercises have also been included in each chapter. Experiments have been written in a manner that it will reduce the time required for instruction at the beginning of each exercise and thus to make more time available for the actual experiments. The book is written in simple, and easily understandable language and will be much useful for masters level as well as for young researchers, thus it should be of invaluable help to the students, researchers and to all those interested in the fisheries science.
