Explorations in the Deccan History is a collection of research articles of Professor A.R. Kulkarni presented in various seminars and conferences. It emphasizes the relevance of History of the Deccan in the relevance of History of the deccan in modern times by bringing out the socio-economic and cultural aspects of the four major components of the Deccan, viz., Maharashtra, Goa Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh. ABOUT THE AUTHOR A.R. Kulkarni

Dr. A.R. Kulkarni (b. 1925) is a Professor Emeritus of History, University of Pune. He has had a long teaching and research career. He has a number of research papers to his credit and has written and edited several books on history. His books on maratha history have been widely acclaimed. He held many important positions. Some of them are with mentioning –the Chairman, Indian Council of Historical research (1`978-81); and general president of the Indian History Congress, Delhi 1992; Visiting Fellow of London University. He was associated with the World History, European Conference on Modern South Asian Studies, Indo-Portuguese studies, International Conference on Maharashtra Society and Culture. He has written a number of textbooks in Marathi for School and College students.
