ABOUT THE AUTHOR Bikram K. Pattanaik

Dr. B.K. Pattanaik is a Senior Research Fellow in the Centre for Research in Rural and Industrial Development (CRRID), Chandigarh. He was also working in National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) and National Institute of Health and Family Welfare (NIHFW), New Delhi. He is the co-author of three books and has contributed more than 75 papers in referred journals. He is the author and co-author of many project reports and research studies sponsored by both national and international agencies. He has participated in seminars and conferences organized in India and abroad. The American Biographical Institute (ABI), North Carilona, USA and International Biographical Centre (IBC), Cambridge, London have honoured him for his research and publications on social issues. His areas of interest are social development, rural development, panchayati raj, health, education and gender empowerment.
