The objective of this book is to explain Islamic viewpoint on Family Planning and an attempt has been made in the book to determine whether Islam permits family planning or not. Through intensive research, a lot of material has been collected and compiled from the Qur’an, the Sunnah and Islamic fiqh on the issue under debate. Points of view of both the schools of thought – those who favour and those who oppose family planning – have been critically analysed. Fatawa of the renowned Muslim jurists and views expressed in various conferences on family planning convened in Muslim world have been highlighted. Policies and programs being pursued regarding family planning in various Muslim countries including Pakistan have been brought into focus, while some negative consequences of Western experience have been brought to the notice of planners in Muslim countries with the purpose that the same may be avoided.
