Feminism in Indian Writing in English is a modest attempt to evaluate critically the various aspects of feminism in Indian Writing in English in the light of both the occidental and oriental approaches of feminism. The opening of the book contains some general papers dealing with the various definitions, trends, psychological exploration, identity crisis and movements concerning feminism and gender discrimination. The book also contains papers on a number of Indian writers in English e.g., Mulk Raj Anand, R.K. Narayan, Shantha Rama Rau, Kamala Markandaya, Anita Desai, Shashi Deshpande, Shobha De, Gita Mehta, Manju Kapur and Mahasweta Devi. The book, it is hoped, will surely get a warm reception by all those students, teachers and research scholars who want to be fully acquainted with feminism and the champions of feminism in Indian Writing in English.
ABOUT THE AUTHOR Amar Nath Prasad
Dr. Amar Nath Prasad teaches English at Jagdam College (Jaiprakash University Chapra, Bihar. He is gold medallist in English. He has attended a number of seminars and conferences. Most of his scholarly poems/papers have been published in different books and journals, magazines and newspapers. Recently he has completed his Ph. D. Degree on Arundathi Roy's The God of Small Things. He has edited more than half a dozen standard books of English literature. He has also authored three books: 1. Practical Criticism; 2. Arundathi Roy's The God of Small Things. 3. Critical Essays on Indian Writing in English.
ABOUT THE AUTHOR S.K. Paul
Dr. Samiran Kumar Paul, a bilingual poet and author, is, at present, working as a Reader in the P.G. Department of English at R.D.S. college, Muzaffarpur under B.R.A. Bihar University. He has authored a book, George Bernard Shaw: A Study of His Ideas and Ideology and contributed a number of scholarly papers to different books and journals, magazines and newspapers. Some of his poems, have also found a place in an International anthology of poems.
