Jayanto Achrekar (b. 1956) combines the analytical acumen of a scientist with insights of corporate negotiator. With a doctorate in Chemistry from the University of Pittsburg and over six years experience in industry in the United States, he acquired a well-deserved reputation as an expert in patented products and North-South dialogue in scarce genetic resources. His work with the Institute-y-Bio-technologica. Rio de Janiero, under the auspices of the United Nation Economic and Social Commission was widely appreciated. He is currently Adviser. Genetic Resources, to a German multinational corporation.
