This book is the fifth volume of the series of 6 volume of the ‘Flora of Maharashtra’ proposed to be compiled by the author Professor M.R. Almeida. This volume, like last two volumes, is also a twin volume and bounded as Volume V, Part ‘A’ & V. Part ‘B’. Volume gives line drawing illustrations and many coloured photographs.

Part VA begins with family Hydrocharitaceae and ends with family Typhaceae. The second Part VB includes families Araceae to Cyperaceae. The volume deals with 697 species, 77 varieties, 2 sub-species belonging to 241 genera and 45 families. Book describes 3 new species with 17 new names and 44 new combinations of species, varieties, etc.
