From the foreword: India, being a signatory to the Convention on Biological Diversity has developed a network of 102 National Parks, 515 Wildlife Sanctuaries and 18 Biosphere Reserves covering about 5% of its total land area. The book enumerates 1030 taxa belonging to 551 genera in 132 families suitably supported by 35 illustrations and 20 plates. The endemic, rare and otherwise interesting plants along with wild edible plants, fodder plants and medicinal plants of the National Park have also been documented.
