The enumeration of the species and various vegetation types are also included. Grassland vegetation, vegatation of hillocks, drying ponds, pools, puddles, lakes and riverside are separately enumerated. As the flora changes with season; the seasonal aspect of the vegetation is also dealt with. Biotic interferences more particularly anthropogenic, produce newer areas for the occupation by species. Roadsides, trackside, fallow land, rubbish heaps, crop lands, gardens, ancient monuments and old walls are few such situations, they have been discussed for their characteristic flora. A statistical synopsis of the flora is prepared to bring out genera to species ratio, wild to cultivated species ratio which are of help to determine the deviation of the flora from natural one. The phytoclimatic spectrum and the flower colour spectrum included, also tell us about the prevailing bioclimate of the area, and dispersion of flower colours during different seasons of the year. Wherever possible the key for identification is prepared on the basis of characters assessable in field. The line diagram included here are drawn by us, keeping in mind its technical value in case of tentative identification. Photographs are included of various species particularly to show community pattern or their value in some kind event to layman as mentioned in the text. The results in part are also depicted in the form of histograms. The work may be of help and may serve as a unique source of information to whosoever interested in this field of botany.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR V P Singh

V.P. Singh is Retd Professor & Head, Department of Plant Sciences (IEMPS), Vikram University, Ujjain (M.P.). He obtained his M.Sc. (1966) and Ph.D. (1971) from Vikram University, Ujjain (M.P.), specializing in Forest ecology, Mangrove ecology, Metal toxicity. He has had a brilliant academic carrier followed by over 36 years of teaching and conducting research in Botany at postgraduate as well as research levels. Dr. Singh has guided 25 Ph.D. students and Published 125 research Papers in National and International periodicals. He is also an author of 11 books in his own specialized fields. He has attended and participated in many seminars, workshops and conferences. Presently he is engaged in the work on the Medicinal Flora of Western Madhya Pradesh.
