The present book titled Foundations of School Effectiveness is an empirical work dealing with comparison of effective schools and ineffective schools on teacher-relted variables such as teacher efficacy, teacher attendance and organisational commitment of teachers as well as school-related variables such as transformative leadership behaviour and school health. The book gives details about the history of school effectiveness and other variables included in the study, methodological aspects such research methods, sample and tools used and a detailed analyses of quantitative data. The major purpose of the book is to identify factors on which effective schools differ from ineffective schools so that school reforms can be initiated to bring about school improvement and enhance school effectiveness.
Here, school effectiveness is measured in terms of the low inherence measure of academic achievement of students after removing the effects of socio-economic status and prior academic achievement of students using the value-added approach. The book makes an attempt to give suggestions of making schools more effective on the basis of empirical evidence.
