During the last 12 years from the first publication of tropical garden plants in colour, readers suggested that separate books on 5 chapters would be easier to consult as a guide for a particular group of plants. This was considered as a meaningful suggestion providing scope for inclusion of illustrated information on more species of plants in colour from the photographs taken from tropical and subtropical regions in India, Australia and south-east Asia during the last few years. Several species of Acacia, Banksia, Callistemon, Eucalyptus, Grevillea, have been included in this edition apart from many species from S.E. Asia. About 440 species and varieties of trees of ornamental importance grown in tropical and subtropical climate in different parts of the world have been illustrated in colour and relevant literature including short description, growth and flowering and cultivation have been provided in the text. The books consulted and used for the preparation of manuscript of this volume are acknowledged in the ‘bibliography’.
