The ocean of Hindu scriptural wisdom in the form of teachings of ancient masters of the religion is too massive for single individuals. This book presents, however, a compact connected collection of such wisdom from the vast and deep literature on Devotional Hindu Thought. Presenting the esoteric meanings and significance of numerous names of Gods, through the words of Rishis, it explains the philosophical foundations of Hinduism, rooted in the Upanishads, the Gita and other ancient scriptures. A glimpse of the synthesis of religion and art as exhibited by the Divine Dance in the Nataraja temple of Chidambaram is also provided.

V. Krishnamurthy Apart from steering BHEL, Maruti and SAIL to positions of repute, V. Krisnamurthy has served in the Minstry of Industry, the Planning Commission and on several prime ministerial committees during his long career in public service. He has also been Chairman of the Indian Institute of Managemant, Ahmedabad and Bangalore; the Indian Insitute of Technology, Delhi; and the Xavier Insitute of Management, Bhubaneswar. He was a member of the National Advisory Council in its first tenure. Since 2004, he is the Chairman of the National Manufacturing Competitiveness Council, holding the rank of a cabinet minister. He was conferred the Padma Vibhushan in 2007 for civil services, and the highest civilian award of Japan, The Grand Cordon of the Order of the Rising Sun, in 2009.
