Gender and Health

The relationship between gender and health is complex. The gender inequality entrenched in our social structure and manifested through patriarchal system has put women in an unequal position in terms of health indicators. This has deep implications for the health and development of children, and also for women themselves. Gender and Health is a collection of articles reflecting critically upon the current status of our knowledge about gender inequalities in health and develops an agenda for future research. Situating its place in the empirical and academic attention to the overall issue of women’s health, the book examines, within the broader context of women’s health, issues pertaining to their rights, medical encounters, and different laws made to meet their health needs, specifically reproductive and mental health.
