Gender Discrimination: The Politics of Women Empowerment

Though, the humanity has progressed tremendously over last one hundred years yet, the status and quality of life of women have not changed significantly. Over a period of time femininity has proved weakness for women and even in the age of democracy the gender relationships are designed on unethical principle of superiority of man over woman. The present volume covers the various dimensions of gender relations and women empowerment. It contains articles and eminent scholars and social scientists from different disciplines. The main focus is one the dynamics of gender relationships and techniques of devolution of functional power to women in all spheres of live. Although, the volume covers the wider perspectives of gender relations yet, the main thrust is one the status of women in India. The volume pinpoints that because of lack of ‘political will’ and existing patriarchal social order, various governmental policies have failed in changing the status of women. Hopefully, this volume will generate debate over the critical and sensitive theme of women empowerment.
