The present compilation attempts to bring together papers, articles, essays, discussion notes and excerpts that serve to highlight gender issues and social dynamics within which all efforts have to be made in the crucial area of women’s development. The volume also presents, in its entirety, the government policies and initiatives in this direction. The publication will be of immense use to students, researchers and professionals in the field of social and sociological contexts of the great gender debate.
ABOUT THE AUTHOR Latika Menon
Latika Menon obtained her Master’s degree in Sociology from the University of Delhi and subsequently a doctorate, with specialization in women’s development issues, from Madras University. She has worked as a counselor and social psychologist with organizations of repute and has been associated with several women’s development NGOs as Consultant and Board Member. She is at present Deputy Director, Research and Training, with Scientific and Technical Research for Employment and Earnings (STREE), a government-aided institution for the promotion of employment opportunities among economically backward women’s groups.
