ABOUT THE AUTHOR Bhaswati Das

Bhaswati Das is Faculty Member, Centre for the Study of Regional Development, school of Social Sciences, Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi. With more than ten years of research experience, she has diversified her areas of interest towards population, gender and development.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR Vimal Khawas

Vimal Khawas is currently Associate Fellow in a newly established Sikkim University, a Central University established by an Act of Parliament of India in 2007. He was previously associated with the Council for Social Development, New Delhi for more than two years. He has been trained in geography at Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi and in Urban and Regional Development Planning at Centre for Environmental Planning and Technology, Ahmedabed. He has worked extensively in the areas of agriculture development, human developmental security and regional development issues. He is an active member of Mountain Forum.
