The book is divided into four sections: temples, paintings, sculptures and architecture. Although the coverage of these sections is limited to a few familiar case studies, they certainly serve the purpose of arousing a sense of recollection of the wonder that India was. For an inquisitive reader, the author has lucidly presented the glimpses of Khajuraho, Konark, Kailasanatha, and Brihadiswara temples; Ajanta and Bagh paintings; sculptures of the Kushana period; and the tombs of Humayun and I’timad-ud-Daula. The book will be of great help to the students and scholars in art and archaeology.
