Globalization is considered as an important element in the reform structure and it also indicates the trend of growing worldwide interconnectedness. The changing international scenario has been advancing with vigour. It embodies integration of international markets for goods, services, technology, finance, and to a certain extent labour and also impinges upon the process of structural change, underpinned by transformation from agricultural to an industrial economy, with critical implications and concomitants for growth, equity, and poverty. There has been increasing pressure both nationally and internationally to open the economies’ demand pursuit of the shift from state to market based forces which will affect the relationship ranging from resource endowments to the dynamics of growth, use of surplus, agriculture and industry and interaction with reference to different socio-economic groups and changes brought about by liberalization and globalization. In this book, an attempt has been made to review the impact of globalization on poverty, with special reference to developing countries. The nature of influence of globalization on the trends of trade transformation and utilization of resources has also been dealt with. A critical appraisal of the policies and programmes pertaining to poverty at different levels has also been attempted and the progress achieved has been reviewed.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR Anil Kumar Singh

Dr. Anil Kumar Sing currently working with India's foremost news channel Aaj Tak Earlier he was associated with Zee News. He had a brief stint in teaching Political Science at a Delhi Universitsy affiliated college till 1995. He then joined Dileep Padgaonkar's organization APCA and worked in the field of television journalism. He did his B.A. Hons. Political Science, M.A. Political Science, M.Phil, and Ph.D. in International Relations from the University of Delhi. Dr. Singh is a keen student of international relations and his areas of special interest are National Security, Indian Ocean, SAARC, New World Orderr, Globalization, New International Order and other related issues. He has contributed several research papers/articles to national level seminars and leading newspapers. Presently he is working on his forthcoming book on India-Mauritius relations.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR Keshav Dev Gaur

Dr. Keshav Dev Gaur (born 1950), ex-Director. Indian Council of Social Science Research, New Delhi, is presently serving as consultant, ICSSR, New Delhi, Dr. Gaur, who has had a distinguished academic career has several research publications to his credit and currently engaged in research in Economics, Commerce, Management and Social Sciences. He has completed three ICSSR major research projects. He is author of more than twenty research books.
