A book titled "Grid Security and Management " was published by Power Line Publishing, India a publisher of Power Line magazine dedicated to the power and energy sector. The book was released on 7th April 2009 in New Delhi, India.
Electricity is the prime mover of economic growth in a country and vital to the sustenance of modern economy. In recent years the electricity sector around the world has seen so many developments. Changes in regulatory framework, changes in marketing design, development of non-conventional energy sources are pushing the electricity grid to perform to its brim.
In the midst of these changes in the sector, newer concerns such as energy security and environmental degradation have also come to the fore, calling for sustainable development model. In addition to the requirements for better economy and efficiency of higher capacity stations, as well as the growing concern for climate change and global warming, there is a renewed thrust on nuclear energy and renewal sources such as wind and solar energy. The book contains twenty two (22) articles covering the areas of planning, technology, Market Design and Operation, Implementation and Operational Challenges as well as human and societal concerns in the context of electricity grid operations. Each article is written by eminent personalities in the sector who have made notable contributions to the field either in the Government or industry or academia. It would be a valuable reference book for anyone having an interest in the country’s power sector.
