This three-part series on group and health insurance brings home to the reader the philosophy of group and health insurance beginning from estimating the “economic-value of life†as a basis of assessing one’s insurance needs to using insurance as a tax avenue. Volume I explores the basic concepts of insurance, and dwells on the different kinds of health insurance providers globally and the various products offered under health and group insurance schemes. It also reviews the current state of health insurance in India along with a prospective view. Volume II deals with the methodology of designing insurance products, the inherent risks and the method of pricing them, besides also covering social security, social insurance, and other related issues. Volume III discusses the various distribution modes insurance companies use and other related issues.

GRK Murty, a postgraduate in Agricultural Sciences is currently working for The ICFAI University Press, as Managing Editor. Earlier, he worked at AP Agricultural University, Hyderabad for six years and later with Bank of India for 27 years. He has published 45 papers in Science, Banking, Management and Insurance journals. he has also presented papers on Banking and Insurance at National and international seminars. He has authored two books-Soft Skills for Successes and Currency Market Derivatives. He has to his credit three edited books: Forex Markets: Exchange Rate Dynamics; Derivativs Markets-Vol. 1; and Infrastructure Projects-Current Financing Trends. He is the Consulting Editors for the ICFAI Current of Bank Management.

U Jawaharlal (b 1954), is an Associate of Insurance Institute of India, Mumbai. He holds a B.Sc. degree from Osmania University and is a CAIIB from Indian Institute of Bankers, Mumbai. He also holds an MBA in Finance and a Diploma in Industrial Relations and Personnel Management. He has an experience of over seven years in LIC of India and over 20 years in Indian Bank. During his tenure in Indian Bank, he had exposure in vital areas like international finance, credit management, MIS, branch management etc. Presently, he is a faculty member in the ICFAI University, and also teaches at ICFAI Business School. He is also the Consulting Editor of Insurance Chronicle, a monthly magazine from ICFAI University Press. He has written several articles in the domain of insurance and some of his articles have been published in reputed international magzines. He has participated in several national and international seminars/conferences and has delivered lectures in various forums.
