From the Foreword: "The present book provides interesting insights into the geographical and historical context of a regional dance style known as Mohiniyattam. It helps to foster awareness of subtle nuances and attention to detail at a time when mass produced 'culture' threatens to obliterate all that is authentic and inspiring about Indian culture. Paying lip-service to traditional values alone will not suffice when it comes to sustaining that which is enchanting (mohana) and therefore precious in its own right such as this dance (attam).
