Handbook of Vegetable Crops one of the most popular publications of the ICAR with a wider readership. In the present edition, an effort has been made to present science-led developments in Indian agriculture, the ongoing research efforts at the national level and some ideas on the shape of future agriculture. While information in some chapters such as soil and water, land utilization, field and forage crops have been updated with latest developments many new topics such as the environment, agrobiodiversity, resource conservation technologies, IPM, Pesticide residues, seed production and technologies, energy in agriculture, informatics, biotechnology intellectual property rights, agricultural marketing and trading and indigenous technical knowledge have been added.
ABOUT THE AUTHOR Sudhir Pradhan
Dr. Sudhir Pradhan is associated with an apex organization of South – East Asia, ICAR, under Ministry of Agriculture. His innovative works include a project report on ‘Media in Agriculture’, ‘Effect of associative symbiosis of Azospirillum sp. and VAM fungi (Vesicular Arbuscolor Mycorrhizae) on the cereals at different levels of Nitrogen and Phosphorus’, and ‘E- Publishing and Knowledge System in Agricultural Innovation Project. His academic pursuance possesses M.Sc. (Botany), Ph.D., Postgraduate Diploma in Journalisms and Diploma in German Language. Dr. Pradhan has got training in Abstracting and Indexing by the experts of CAB International, Wellingdonford, United Kingdom. Dr. S. Pradhan has more than 29 years experience in the relevant field as science writer. He has got published more than 250 papers in different newspapers, magazines, research journals, etc.
