ABOUT THE AUTHOR Mahadevappa D Gouri

Dr. Mahadevappa D Gouri, M.V.Sc., M.B.A., (Ph.D.) has been serving in the Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Services, Government of Karnataka, as a Veterinary Officer.  He has a vast experience in management and treatment of various classes of livestock’s including rabbitry.  Involved in various extension activities including training of in-service para-veterinary staff at field level, training of farmers, as a consultant to dairy farmers, sheep and goat farmers and small/large scale rabbit farmers.  Attended several conferences, seminars, symposia etc.  Won award for the best paper presentation in ISAPM, conferences, held in G.B. Pant University, during 2006.  Dr. Mahadevappa D Gouri is a life member of several professional bodies including Indian Society for Animal Production and Management and Animal Nutrition Association of India and Karnataka Veterinary Association.  Presently undergoing for his Ph.D. programme, in the Department of LPM, KVAFSU, Veterinary College, Hebbal, Bangalore-24.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR T M Prabhu

Dr. T M Prabhu has taught Animal Nutrition to undergraduate and postgraduate students for more than a decade in the University of Agricultural Sciences, Bangalore and Karnataka Veterinary, Animal and Fisheries Sciences University, Bidar.  He is also involved in guidance of postgraduate scholars.  He is recipient of “Jawahar Lal Nehru Award” for outstanding postgraduate Agricultural Research for the year 2003 for outstanding contribution in the field of Animal Nutrition by the Indian Council of Agricultural Research, New Delhi in 2004, “Dr. N.D. Kehar Award” for best Ph.D. Thesis (202-03) of Indian Veterinary Research Fellowship (1996-98) of Council of Scientific and Industrial Research, New Delhi.  To his credit he has more than ten Research Publications in National and International Journals of repute, fifty abstract papers, fifteen extension bulletins and four laboratory manuals.  He is actively involved in evolving technologies to detoxify and utilize hitherto wasted agro-forest based unconventional protein feeds for economic livestock production.  In recognition of significant contribution for the advancement of Veterinary Sciences (India) in 2009. Dr. Prabhu is a life member of several professional bodies including Animal Nutrition Society of India, Animal Nutrition Association of India and Karnataka Veterinary Association.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR Y B Rajeshwari

Dr. Y.B. Rajeshwari, M.V. Sc, Ph.D. Professor, Department of Livestock Production & Management has been working in the Veterinary College since 1982 and worked at various levels. She has been offering management courses for both undergraduate and postgraduate students.She has adequate experience in Teaching, Research and Extension. Offering undergraduate and post graduate courses in laboratory animal and broiler rabbit production and management, management of pet animals, pet birds, wild animals and swine management. In-charge of small animal house with vast knowledge of different managerial accepts of various laboratory animals and involved in research activities with laboratory animals.
