ABOUT THE AUTHOR A.R. Rizvi

Born in March 1934 at Amroha, U.P., third son of a teacher father. Early school education at Government High School Hapur, Government High School Bareilly, Government High School Amroha and J.S. Hindu Inter college Amroha. The B.Com and M.A. Economics degree were obtained from the Aligarh Muslim University, Aligarh in 1957 and 1959 rspectively. Joined Jamia illia Islamia (Jamia Rural Institute) as a Lecturer in August, 1959. After teaching for more than 5 years, in March 1966, availed study leave from Jamia and joined Unviersity of Western Australia, at Perth, for a higher degree in Economics and got the M.Ec. research degree in 1969. The thesis was entitled "Studies in the Demand for the supply of Gold". Thereafter remained in Jamia and was appointed Reader in 1977 and Professor in 1985. Lately before the publicationo f this small volume a paper entitled "Special Drawing Rights" was published in The Third Concept" (New Delhi) Volume 10, No. 110-111 April-May 1996, another paper on the conditionalities of IMF credit windows in lying with the Third concept for publication. These topics have been taught to post-graduate students at Jamia since 1986 when some of the facilities were incepted by the fund, it was realised that it will be fruitful to put together in the form of a small volume after extensive updating.
