Health Administration in a Metropolis

This book makes a comprehensive study of the Delhi Municipal Corporation in the perspective of its health and family planning programmes. Health being a vital factor in the infrastructure of a metropolis, this study makes a microanalysis of this area of management as an element of urban government. Although students of public administration have explored the formal organisation and working of local bodies, very few studies have been done with the focus attempted in the present book, and the author deserves to be congratulated for her contribution to an area where scanty literature is available. Her approach to the problem is exhaustive: she deals with various aspects like organisation, management, finances, public perception and public policy concerning health services of a local body. The study would thus be of immense value to students of Social Work, Public Administration, Health Education, Social and Preventive Medicine and to all those concerned with management of health services.
