This book presents spatio-temporal appraisal of Health Status Index (HIS) of 237 Panchayat Samities of Rajasthan, during the period 1991 and 2001. Giving geographical profile of the state, along with its health status, it interprets spatial distribution pattern of HIS during the period. It further studies changed relative status of Panchayat Samities in HIS, and presents growth trends as well as plan of action. The emerging challenges facing Rajasthan have also been discussed in detail. The book is enriched with key data from NFHS and SRS.
ABOUT THE AUTHOR Hemlata Joshi
Prof. Hemlata Joshi, a faculty in geography, Mohanlal Sukhadia University, Udaipur (Rajasthan), is at present on deputation at the Institute of development studies, Jaipur. She obtained her B.A. (Honours), M.A. and Ph.D. degrees from the university of Rajasthan, Jaipur. He areas of specialization are Human Development Studies, Industrial geography AND Remote sensing. She has completed research projects on fertilizer Industry of India" (UGC), "A Geographical Appraisal of textile Mill Industry -Banswara District" (UGC), "Fairs of Vagad region: (TRI-Udaipur), "Education Development Index of Panchayat Samities, Rajasthan, 1991-2000", "Economic Development Index", "Health Status Index" and "Human Development Index-Spatio-Temporal and gender Appraisal at Panchayat Samiti/Block level" (all of IDSJ).
