Higher Education in India: Challenges and Possibilities

Dr. D. Parimala is an Assistant Professor in Central Institute of Education, University of Delhi.  The Department is also known as Department of Education, famous for research and academics par excellence.  Her area of research is broadly multi-disciplinary in nature and she excels in teaching on the subject education with key perspectives on its history, sociology and gender.  Her other areas of interest include studies on dalits, policy perspectives on equity and education of the marginalized section of the society.  Being already established as a Social Science scholar and an educator, she has a book namely, “Education of Dalit Plantation Women Workers” published to his credit and yet another book on South Asian Perspectives is in the process.  The current edited book on 'Equity and Education: Policy, Issues and Challenges' is a unique scholarly work of its kind and the author sincerely hopes that it will be widely welcomed by the educationists and sociologists and will be equally useful to policy makers, administrators, teachers and NGOs engaged in Education.
