ABOUT THE AUTHOR Kavita Kumar

Kavita Kumar (nee Krishna Bhasin) holds a Masters degree in Economics from Delhi University. Starting her career as lecturer in Economics at Janki Devi College, Delhi, she taught at a few other places, then dedicated herself to teaching English and Hindi as a second language. She runs her own school in Varanasi (India) teaching Hindi, English and basic German to students from Europe, India, USA, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, Korea, Thailand and several other countries. Her specialization is active Hindi in use today. She has been constantly pursuing informal research to design an easy-to-follow user-friendly plan to learn and teach Hindi. Her book Hindi for Non-Hindi-Speaking People (with accompanying workbook) has been widely acclaimed and appreciated by readers as a precious resource to learn Hindi. She is widely traveled; and has lived in Canada, Japan, Germany and USA. She is well-acquainted with the diverse emotional needs of beginner students whose learning process involves encounters with an alien culture an well.
