Authors of this book have taken pains to collect the findings on ancient Indian literature that have been made available by the initiative taken by several Western scholars and Indian thinkers. They have attempted to correlate them with the stands taken by scientists. The approach is laudable. What is rational is valid for all times and what fails to stand the test of time cannot be accepted as a component of Sasvata Dharma. If certain practices are found to be harmful and inhuman they have to be rescinded and if a practice is harmless but beneficial it should be continued even if we are unable to prove its value on the touchstone of the knowledge that modern science has made available to us. There are mysteries in nature that science has not yet deciphered and unraveled. There has to be conscious rejection of evil and sincere adherence to the good. The authors have adopted this approach in this monograph in an excellent manner.
