Orissa has produced a galaxy of front-ranking researchers who can be compared for their outstanding contributors to the field of history particularly to regional history with any other region of India. ABOUT THE AUTHOR Subash C. Padhy

Dr. Subash Chandra Padhy is Professor of History, Berhampur University. He has written a number of books including British Relations with Chiefs and rajas of orissa 1803-1858 (1986); Some Aspects of History and Culture of South Orissa (ed.) (1977); Tribal Problems and prospects: A Study on South Orissa (2000); Freedom Movement: Prelude to Sequel (2000); Peasants and Land Reforms in Orissa (co-author) 2000). He has also contributed many research papers to national Journals.
