A superlative collection of short stories by Ramachandra Sharma, one of the leading lights of Navya fiction in the Kannada literary scene, Home and Away reflects the concerns and experiences of the author – both at home and abroad. Varied in theme and style, the stories represent Sharma’s creative expression in prose spanning over a period of four decades. From sexual to communal, from introspection to self-exploration, the range of the narrative is expansive. The entire gamut of human sentiments – love and hatred, desire and disappointment, pleasure and pain, reunion and separation – is portrayed with intense empathy and passion. Ordinary people and everyday events brought to life by a poet-writer in his unique style.
