Most of us think Home Remedies are mostly based on formulations of Grandma’s Remedies. By keeping this in view a detailed study on the subject was taken up by the author on the basis of the fundamentals of Ayurveda was done. Further each of the Herbals were studied from the original ancient Ayurvedic texts. Most of the herbal preparations are based on Ayurvedic principles except a few. This is an excellent text book for medical practitioners and an informative book on ‘Home information. Here an attempt is being made to present Home Remedies in Systematic order. This is not a complete book on home remedies. Still there are many useful folk remedies which are to be added gradually in future editions.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR Ashok Majumdar

Dr. Ashok Majumdar is a well known scholar and practioner in the field of Ayurveda and Yoga. He did his MBBS from Maulana Azad Medical College in Delhi and later completed DAyM (Doctor of Ayurvedic Medicine), now conferred as MD (Ayurveda), a Post-Graduate degree course from the Institute of Medical Sciences, Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi and Later earned Ph.D. in Ayurveda from the same University. In addition he has been very good in depth knowledge of Homeopathy which he learnt while doing comparative study in various sciences. Author is well trained in Acupuncture and had training from Hong Kong and Singapore. In addition to this he has second degree training in Reiki. He spent most of his time in the study of Alternative Medicines on the basis of the Modern Scientific Medical training. Dr. Majumdar was also World Health Organization (WHO) Consultant in Traditional Medicine to Indonesia in 1985. He was also Hony. Ayurvedic Consultant in Panchakarma in Mool Chand Kherati Ram Hospital and Ayurvedic Research Institute, New Delhi. In the year 1998 his first book was published in the name as follows, " Ayurveda: The Ancient Indian Science of healing". It is recommended as text book in Ayurvedic College in Kottakkal and Wellcome Institute, England. Again in 1999, another book published in revised and enlarged form of the PhD work done at the Banaras Hindu University, named as "Nervous System in Yoga and Tantra (Implication in Ayurveda)." After this another book was completed with the title "Pulse Examination In Ayurveda" in two volumes consisting of around 600 pages. This was written as Project Investigator of Indian National Science Academy (INSA), Govt. of India, for two Years (not published yet). This complete work was submitted in the year 2000. In addition soon after this present book publication, another book will be published with the title, "A Concise Text book on Yoga". Dr. Majumdar belongs to a family of traditional Ayurvedic physicians through ten generations. He is a widely traveled person and traveled to many countries in Europe, Africa and South-East Asia.
