ABOUT THE AUTHOR Adaikkalam Subbian

Dr. Adaikkalam Subbian (b. 1945) enjoys an International reputation as the foremost authority on contemporary Civilization, Human Rights, Peace, and a reputed historian, scholar and writer. He was educated in Orathanadu – Thanjevur District at Board High School and after graduation B.A. (1967) at Alagappa College, Karalkudi, he went to Annamalai University, Chidambaram. He holds three degrees from Annamalai University M.A. (History) (1969) – Ph.D.(Modern India) and D.Litt., (Human rights, International law and Organizations), and M.A. Political Science from Sri Venkateswara University. He was awarded a distinguished D. Litt. Degree for his Classic thesis: “Human Rights Complaints Systems: International and Regional” which set a new standard for the study of systems. His contribution to the field modern India may be found to “Nehru Epoch 1947-1964”, “Tryst with Destiny (1987)”; a study of the social, political and ideological consequences of Nehruvian India and India’s quest for a national identity. His principal publications include “One World Government (1984)”, “Human rights: The Unending Quest (1987)”, “UN Beacon Hope for Mankind (1987)”, and “Commonwealth Countries” are prize winning books. His bibliographies of periodical literatures on “Human Righrts and Peacae 1970-85” Parts I and II, published by Human rights Internet Toronto. Dr. A Subbian, Dean, Faculty of Arts is Editor of the Annamalai University “Humanities Journal” since 2002, and served as Editor-in-Chief of Anamalai University “Platinum Jubilee Research Journal of Humanities, Education, Indian Languages and Fine Arts”. He has edited several books. He won many national and international awards and his biography is found in more than 15 International Directories. He is a distinguished member of the ‘Tamil Nadu, History and Indian History Congresses, UGC Research Panel 1995-2001, Indian Historical Records Commission (1990-2002), Amnesty International, Human Rights internet Toronto, Canada, IMADR Japan, and others. He is an active member of many academic bodies of Indian Universities. His foreign academic visits include USA, France, Malaysia, Singapore and Bangladesh. His current research interests, include Intellectual Property rights under Globalization with Special Reference to India.
