Many countries in the world today face the problem of refugees. It does not matter what the cause of fleeing from one country and seeking shelter or asylum in another is. The fact remains that many countries are forced to admit (Sometimes they try to discourage by force of arms) people whom their own people do not like and consequently generate racial and communal conflicts. In this context, human rights takes on an added dimensions. Sometimes atrocities are heaped on them o force them to go back to wherever they came from. International anger and anguish is expressed, but beyond that nothing else happens. Sometimes, some countries, either independently or under UN auspices enter the fray, diplomatically and through military intervention. This book details the various aspects of refugees and the problems they face in terms of human rights.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR A. Natarajan

A. Natarajan holds a postgraduate degree in Political Science and Sociology form Annamalai University, Annamalai Nagar, Tamil Nadu, and also obtained a doctorate in Political Science from the same university. He has teaching experience of more than three decades in various colleges of Tamil Nadu. He is devoted human rights activist and writes frequently in newspapers and journals about various facets of Human Right,namely, Child Rights, Rights of Minorities, and Rights of Women. He has published 17 research papers in national journals and also presented papers at various conferences and symposia. His major research interest includes various political and social aspects of Human Rights. At present, he is Joint Director of the centre for Awareness of Human Rights (CaHR), Coimbatore, a NGO working for the awareness of human rights in rural areas.
