Dr. Syed Mehartaj Begum obtained a first class Masters and Ph.D. degrees from the Sri Venkateshwara University, Tirupati, Andhra Pradesh. At present, Dr. Mehartaj is teaching Human Rights in the Department of Political Science, Jamia Millia Islamia (Central University), N.Delhi. Her area of specialization is police administration, crime against women and role of law-enforcement agencies in India.She has authored a book on District Police Administration. She has also published a number of research papers/articles in peer reviewed journals of repute. Dr. Mehartaj has attended several national and international conferences/seminars related to human rights in India.
