The Western Ghats, one of the twenty five hotspots in the world sustains unique piscine fauna, which need protection. The present work submits an account on 135 species of fishes comprising 57 genera and 22 families under 8 orders of freshwater fishes viz. food fishes, gamefishes, ornamental fishes and many more. This work will serve the purpose of inquisitive research workers and can provide insight into ichthyology".
