The quest for Olympic gold, has been the dream of billion Indian people! India won its last Gold in Hockey in 1980. Only 3 medals (bronze) have been won in other events in the modern Olympic in its 104 year Old history. Do the Indian sportpersons not possess the potential, or has the sports management set up become breeding ground for favoritism, corruption and mere exercise of power, with no commitment to the requisite effort and little stake in the results? In this book, the author, D.K. Mittals, I.A.S. (Retd.) who has been at the helm of affairs in steering excellence development programme as Director General, Sports Authority of India, during 1998-2001, traces as to what’s been wrong in the Indian system. He also ventures to suggest an Action Plan for success, and demonstrates how to turn the dreams of a billion people into reality, set backs into new beginnings, and successes into newer possibilities….
