ABOUT THE AUTHOR T.N. Kaul

T.N. Kaul, a scholar and thinker in his own right, and a reputed name, not only in India but in the outside world too, was renowned for his independent outlook and unorthodox approach to social, political and economic problems. Born in Baramulla, Kashmir, in 1913, he took BA (Hons.) from Punjab. LLB from Allhabad and Master of Laws from London University. He also passed the ICS competitive examination in London in 1936 and served in UP before Independence. He was selected by Pt. Jawaharlal Nehru, the first Prime Minister of India in July 1947, for the newly created Indian Foreign Service. He had the unique distinction of representing India in all the major capitals of the World – London. Moscow, Washington. Paris and Peking. His four years as Foreign Secretary brought him in close touch with leaders and statesmen the world over, especially in UNO, NAM, and commonwealth of Nations. He breathed his last on 16th January, 2000.
