With the aim to present a comprehensive picture of the Indian labour, the Labour Bureau has been bringing out Indian Labour Year Book, the present issue of which is the 55 in the series. The publication also attempts to highlight the significant events and developments in the field of labour. The publication also contains a brief account of the contents and titles of the various publications of labour bureau, a list of important Labour Acts, (Central and State), Conventions and Recommendations adopted by the International Labour Conference as well as those ratified by India, names and designation of the principal officers connected with the Administration of Labour Laws and Implementation of Labour Policy at the Central and States level, list of journals (though not exhaustive) of labour interest published in India, a bibliography of the publications of various organisations/departments/ministries and autonomous bodies in the field of labour. Some of the chapters of this publication have been restructured so as to avoid repetition. The readers may, therefore, refer to earlier issues of the year book for statistics and events relating to earlier periods.
