The present volume, basically an anthology, consists of eight chapters, some of which are the revised version of the research articles published in national journals. The first chapter is the introduction of the volume that sets the tune of the book by highlighting the evolution of Indian ‘state’ and making an assessment of the different theoretical perspectives that have been suggested for the analysis of Indian state and politics. Chapter second marks an indepth study of the nature, content and implication of constitutional dynamism in India along the line of the perception of the framers of the constitution and the objective reality that they had been confronted with. Chapter third deals with the complexities of the Indian Federal System from both the structural and operational perspectives thus touching upon the current issues that tend to affect the federal system and process in India.
