This book deals with an advanced study of India’s political system in historical and contemporary perspectives. The present political system, as devised by our founding fathers, stands on the foundations laid by the great national leaders during the course of freedom movement as well as on the statutory arrangements made by the British rulers to somehow maintain their imperial hold over this vast country. The operation of this political system has witnessed supplementation with political developments occurred after the inauguration of the Constitution in 1950.
