Correction has been defined as a social process by which modern society deals with law-breakers as members of the community in a temporary handicapped status. Thus, correction stands for positive programmes of reformation of social deviants for their ultimate reintegration as useful members of society. With this background present day thinking is that men are sent to prison as a punishment and not for a punishment. The present book investigates into the scope of reformation of prisoners under the existing prison laws in India.
