From the preface: This book titled Indigenous Knowledge and Policy Issues in Fisheries is focused on three major tribes, such as, Adi, Galo and Nyishi of a frontier state called Arunachal Pradesh. This is a maiden attempt no only to understand the various intricate issues related to fisheries but also to document the Indigenous Knowledge System (IKS) of the three tribes of Arunachal Pradesh who are passing through the phase of transition. The original or natural habitats are still maintained which provides enormous scope to explore the IKS of these tribes in relation to biodiversity as well as cultural diversity in general and fisheries in general. It is an attempt to document traditional knowledge related to fish and conservation value providing many photographs related to IKS.     It is hoped that this compilation will provide new information on the indigenous knowledge systems including fishing methods, post harvest processing, and local fish biodiversity conservation policies developed by the tribal community of the Arunachal Pradesh. This book will be highly useful to the students, researchers, fishery and biodiversity resource managers, ethnobiologists, ecologists and agencies involved in preservation and promotion of traditional knowledge for the larger benefit of the society.
