Indological studies have great significance in knowing the past history of this country. ABOUT THE AUTHOR S.K. Bajpai

Dr. S.K. Bajpai, ex Epigraphical Officer, Archaeology & Museums Department, Government of Madhya Pradesh, Bhopal, is presently posted as a Reader in the Ancient Indian History, Culture and Archaeology Department of Dr. H.S. Gour University, Sagar (M.P.). Dr. Bajpai has to his credit experience of archaeological exploration and excavation at several important sites in Madhya Pradesh. He has discovered new material bearing on art, epigraphy and numismatics. He has published about fifty research papers so far. His other important publications are: “Puratan” (No. 1, Bhopal, 1984) and “Rock Art of India” (Bhopal, 1984) as associate editor; “Aitihasik Bharatiya Abhilekh” (Jaipur, 1992), “Guptakalin murtikala ka saundaryatmak adhyayan” (Delhi, 1992), “Bhartiya Kala” (Bhopal, 1994), “Aitihasik Bhartiya sikke” (Delhi, 1997) as writer and “The Glory that was Bundelkhand” (Bhopal, 1993) and “Prachya Pratibha”, a research journal (Bhopal, 1994-95 to 1998-99), as member in the editorial board.
