Mewar was the first and foremost state which made valiant efforts towards the preservation of its freedom. During the earlier period the mighty Sultans of Malva and Gujrat were its chief adversaries who endeavored time and again to subjugate the land. Later on the Mughals and before them the Truks and the Pathans attacked this land on several occasions. The brave people of Mewar successfully encountered these invasions under the able and determined leadership of the Maharanas who valued and cherished freedom more than their lives. During the later times a treaty was signed with the Mughals which cannot be termed as abject surrender. The present work bring out the text and purpose of the majority of important inscriptions of Mewar in a single volume for the first time. The texts would provide greater details to the scholars and afford them an opportunity to form their own opinion about certain happenings mentioned in the epigraphs. The gist and purport would go a long way in satisfying the curiosity and need of casual readers.
