Water resources are decreasing day by day due to the exponential increase in demand. Also, due to human and industrial activities, the quality of water is getting affected resulting in a reduction in the supply of usable water and problems with the disposal of polluted water. This necessitates water conservation strategies at the National, State and Local levels. A number of advanced techniques have been developed on various aspects of water conservation and quality preservation by researchers. Also, there are traditional approaches available and are being used very effectively in various parts of the world. There is a need to understand and integrate these aspects to develop integrated sustainable water resources planning strategies. The present book encompasses various topics related to water resources planning and management. However, for the benefit of the readers, they have been presented under the following four themes. Systems Approach to Hydrologic Problems and Mathematical Modeling; Geographical information Systems and Remote Sensing in Water Resources Management; Water Pollution and Environmental Considerations; Watershed Management, Education, Artificial Recharge and Rain Water Harvesting
